PTO Shaft Instructions

Raise the machine up until the spline of the machine and th spline of the tractor are horizontal and equal distance from the ground.

Measure the distance from grove of tractor to the spline groove of the machine spline. This will be measurement A.

Push the PTO shaft together so that it is at it's shortest length.

Measure distance from push pin to push pin.

Subtract the distance of measurement B from measurement A to find measurement C.

Example: When A=30" B=38", and B - A = C

                                                         30" - 38" = 8"

Now add 1" to measurement C ( This is to allow 1" of clearance )

                                                          8" + 1" = 9"

This is how much must be cut from each half of the shaft.

Separate the two halves of the PTO shaft. Mark and cut Measurement C from the plastic cover of each half of the shaft.

Now measure and cut measurement C from the Steel shaft.

De-bur the cut end of the shafts with a file. Apply grease to the shaft and reassemble the two halves.

Shorten the chain so that there is enough slack for it to elongate to its longest required length, but no longer.
